Pre-Engineering programme for secondary school launched-Dr. Adutwum

On Wednesday 19th January 2022, MP for Bosomtwe Constituency and the current Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum launched the Pre-Engineering programme for secondary school graduates with non-science backgrounds.

The Pre-Engineering programme is a one-year detailed course designed to prepare and train secondary school graduates with non-science backgrounds for enrollment into Bachelor of Science in Engineering course at the university.

The Pre-Engineering programme is a game-changer that will open doors to many non-science secondary school graduates, especially Visual Arts graduates who have the desire and possess the ability and creative mind to be trained as innovative and creative engineers to drive Industrialization in our dear country.

This programme is in accordance with the Education Strategic Plan 2018-2030 which targets a 60% enrollment of students in tertiary education enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

The Minister is looking forward to welcoming the first batch of students for this programme to University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) and Pentecost University, in February this year.
