The Assin South District Assembly through the Social Welfare and Community Development Department has supported 90 Persons with Disability (PWDs), with various items and cash. The gesture was to enhance the economic activities and livelihoods of the beneficiaries.
The items given includes wheelchairs, fridges, industrial sewing machines, electric sewing machines, shoe making machines, fufu machines, cash etc.
The donation formed part of the 5 per cent share of the District Assembly Common Fund for Persons with Disability.
Presenting the items at a short but colourful ceremony at the premises of the Assembly, the District Chief Executive, Ms Felicia Amissah Ntrakwa advised the beneficiaries to properly utilize the items to help them reap the full benefits to improve their lives and families.
She said the Government of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo through the Assembly is committed to empowering Ghanaians irrespective of their circumstances in life and would continue to initiate pro-poor policies to reach out to all.
She reiterated that the Assembly would continue to adopt an intensive monitoring exercise to ensure that the items and the monies given are used judiciously.
The beneficiaries, whose faces were flooded with full smiles after receiving the items lauded the Assembly for coming to their aid.
They, therefore, pledged to put the items received to good use to achieve their intended purpose.
