As days and weeks unfold, GMB 2021 comes with different educative and entertaining activities. 22 August 2021 marked TV3 6th live performance of GMB 2021.
Women are resourceful economic agents. Tonight, the pulchritudinous ladies enlightened us about some heroines in Ghana.
Contestants talked about heroines of their land, their roles and their impacts on their communities, Ghana, and the international community at large.
First up on stage was Setor. Setor told a story about Justice Annie Ruth Jiagge from the Volta region. A lawyer, judge and women’s rights activist.
Sarfoa from the Ashanti region celebrated her heroine, Florence Abena Dolphyne, a linguist and academic.
Nana from the Bono East region told the history of Ohemaa Abrafi Koto II. The queen mother of Techiman.
From the Greater Accra, Dede enlightened us about her heroine, Rebecca Naa Dedeyeetey aka Dedei Ashikishan, a Political Activist, Feminist and Chief Financier of CPP.
Central region’s Kwansema unearthed the story of Okomfo Amoona, a powerful priestess known to have existed in the mid 13th century.
Savannah region’s Aramah told us about her heroine, Hajia Fati Habib-Jawula, a former ambassador to Denmark and Scandinavia.
Teiya from the Northern region told us why Sherifa Gunu is her heroine. The legendary award-winning musician & Queen Of African music performed on stage.
Afua from the Eastern region celebrated Angelina Akua Nana Oduro, the woman behind the iconic “Akwaaba” photo.
Western region’s Manu celebrated her heroine, Hannah Badu Cudjoe, a prominent activist for Ghanaian independence in the 1940s and 1950s.
Wedaga picked Lawyer Mrs Clara Beeri Kasser-Tee, a beacon of hope and the founder and current Head of Kasser Law Firm as her heroine.
Award winners on 22nd August 2021.
Best costume: Dede representing the Greater Accra Region won the Best Costume of the night.
Most eloquent: Wedaga representing the Upper East region won the most eloquent for the night.
Star performer: Kwansema representing the Central region won the star performer.
Dede, the Greater Accra region representative was evicted after several weeks of GMB performances.
Dede joins Akua (Ahafo region), Esi (Western North Representative) and Tamah ((North East Region Representative) who were evicted in the past weeks.
