After several months of engagement, 18 delegates have been picked to compete for Miss Western Ghana 2022. The 18 contestants were chosen across the various municipalities and districts in the Western Region of Ghana. The contestants are Phyllis, Anas, Sika, Yaa, Pearl, Melda, Anita, Hajia, Clara, Akosua, Lawrine, Abigail. Jessie, McCarthy, Serwah, Ekua Yankey, Priscilla and Mawuena.
Phyllis Amago Dunenyo from Asankrangua who is representing the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality landed her durbar at the Asankrangua Chief’s Palace on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The road to crowning Miss Phyllis began with a glamorous durbar that unveiled a gorgeous lady who is poised to be crowned the winner.
Present were the organizers of Miss Western, Ex-One Entertainment and Nananom of Asankrangua and surrounding communities.
Speaking at the durbar, Phyllis beamed with pleasure as she is determined to unravel the rich culture of her area. She said Miss Western is a big platform for developing young ladies to become role models and leaders to effect change in their society. It is against this background that she has joined the 2022 contest to enable her to build her leadership skills and get a big platform that will help her to contribute tremendously to the development of Asankranman and Ghana as a whole. Her greatest intention is to train the youth in apprenticeship programmes. She also seeks to address traffic collisions which have become a major problem bedevilling the municipality in recent times. Again, it is her dream to organize seminars to boost confidence among the youth.
The contestant expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of the Wassa Amenfi West and the Organizers of the contest for giving her the platform to showcase her skills and talents.
The Gyaasehene of Asankrangua Traditional Area, Nana Aduboahene who chaired the programme congratulated her for her confidence in representing and putting the people of Wassa Amenfi West on a pedestal. He called on the youth, especially young girls to emulate her steps.
Mmrante hene Nana Kojo Blay presented gifts from Nananom to Miss Phyllis.
Miss Phyllis used the opportunity to appeal to Nananom and all the people who were present for their financial and moral support to bring the crown and glory to the people of Wassa Amenfi West. She thanked the Chiefs, Queen mothers and the entire community for their massive support.
