The Beast in a man
He laughs aloud when we fall around
He rejoices when failure embraces us
And comes in to behave
As though he wants to rescue us
Cries with us
And mourns with us
But he is never for us.
He creates trouble to gather a mob
to rob them
What a beast-man carries!
He prepares chaos in secret, releases them
And comes openly as though to mute it
An inventor of problem
And a solution to the problem.
Fame must drape over me
I must be soaked in it
No one else, only I
I must be on the peak
All people must be down and meek
All glory should hurry to my place.
This is how the beast speaks.
The beast in a man hates correction
And frowns on rebukes
All he wants, praise and applauds
Sees lovers as haters
He knows he’s wise
But he is a fool.
The beast in a man
Complains when he loses
And shouts when he’s down
He works in all men
He is the reason for all the mess
