THE CHURCH OF PENTECOST CUTS SOD FOR A 10-ACRE IRRIGATION FARMLAND PROJECT

The Church of Pentecost handed ultramodern prison Camp to Ghana Prisons Service at Ejura in the Ashanti Region on 11th May 2021.
There were a lot of unpleasant comments from Ghanaians concerning such a humanitarian initiative by the church. Some people argued that there are more pressing needs in the country; therefore the church should have addressed those needs rather than channelling its energy in building an infrastructure to accommodate criminals.

At the handing over ceremony,
Apostle Nyamekye disclosed that a lot of projects were underway. Some of the projects that were mentioned include police stations, mechanized boreholes in rural communities, clinics, among others.
The church is focused on transforming lives and society which is the prime purpose of the church and values of Christianity.

The church of Pentecost has commenced a 10-acre solar-powered irrigation farmland project at Ankpaliga, a farming community near Zebila in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region. The event took place on 24th June 2021. The General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi cut the sod for such a big project. The project is being initiated through the Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS).

The project which is expected to be completed in October 2021 will create about 450 direct and indirect jobs.

The Northern Region faces an erratic water supply which affects agricultural activities. It is hoped that not only will this project improve farming activities in the area, but also go a long way in providing a sustained livelihood for the youth who are compelled to move to the southern part of the country to search for a job during the protracted dry season.
