Research has shown that improved sanitation environments can lead to better educational outcomes.
Similarly, there is some evidence that school enrollment and attendance improves basically of the serene and conducive environment particularly for girls. But in our society nowadays, we don’t see things that way because of some bad habits of some citizens.
Teachers and students at Sankore Mosama primary school at Asunafo South district in the Ahafo Region are crying bitterly on how some unknown persons have turned their school into a latrine over the past months.
Speaking to Mr Eric Kwame Agyemang a class six teacher, said for the past weeks they’ve been in an unconditional situation because some residents at Sankore has now used their school classrooms as toilet continuously.
Due to that, it has compelled them to teach the students outside the classrooms and under trees which won’t aid them at all.
Madam Martha, who’s also a teacher at the school added up that, they’ve been numerous issues of defecating in classrooms in the area, but theirs is so appalling and it’s a disgrace to them and the people in the community.
Teachers and students at Sankore Mosama primary school today demonstrated bitterly against such an unauthorized act.
Students at the school also expressed their displeasure on such an unlawful act, that’s been done by some of the residents.
They said the irresponsible act is having a bad impact on their education as they don’t get access to a proper education by sitting under trees to study and not living in a serene environment.
The teachers finally said, until such an act stops, they won’t enter their classrooms to teach.
