A little over two months after he took office as the acting Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare has been named as substantive head of the Ghana Police Service.
The 51-year-old COP Dampare (the youngest IGP in Ghana’s current Republic), had until this appointment, been the Director-General in charge of Administration at the Ghana Police Service.
Only a few days ago, President Akufo-Addo praised the work of Dr George Dampare, expressing confidence in his work.
President Akufo-Addo congratulated him warmly on his appointment, and, with no hesitation, said that it is a well-deserved one.
He further added that Dr George Dampare has risen through the ranks of the Police Service, starting as a constable, and has served his nation dutifully.
“Today, he has reached the pinnacle of his career and will serve, for the next four (4) years, as Inspector General of Police. He has demonstrated that he will be an effective leader of the Police Service, and will help foster its efficiency”, Akufo-Addo.
