[ Videos] RESIDENTS CRY FOR HELP AS FLOOD TAKES OVER OYARIFA GREEN – HILLS COMMUNITY

Residents of Oyarifa Green hills in the La – Nkwantanan Madina Municipality in the Greater Accra have been ravaged by flood, throwing residents, shop owners and commuters in distress.

The flood, which is a result of the persistent rainfall and bad drainage system in the community has caused a lot of damages. Residents are calling on President Akufo Addo to come to their aid.

Mr Robert Lamptey, a spokesperson for the residents whose shop is located along the road is concerned about the flooding.

He said “we need the government to come to our rescue; It is not just about fixing the roads but about constant checks and maintenance too. If this is not taken care of soonest, we might probably advise ourselves.

He added that the bad drainage system is the main reason for this flooding. There is nowhere for the water to go out which is why the roads are flooded.

He concluded that they have sent a petition to the Regional Minister and La Nkwantanan Madina Municipal Assembly but nothing positive has yielded from their assiduous calls.

Some of the residents who spoke to Angel News Kwadwo Baffour lamented that it has become very difficult to leave their homes.

They further pleaded for urgent intervention from the government to arrest the problem since it is posing a threat to their sources of livelihood.
